Jeanie Marie Buss (born Jeanie Marie Buss) is a famous American woman in business. She is the controlling owner of the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association and currently acts as the association's president. Buss is a native of California has an impressive family background. Her father Jerry Buss was a real-estate businessman who became manager of the Lakers and other businesses related to sports. Her parents parted ways in 1972, which caused her to feel that she was emotionally neglected. At the age 19 she became the General Manager of Los Angeles Strings, a professional tennis team. She later set up her own Los Angeles Blades professional roller hockey team. Her first role was vice-president of the Lakers prior to taking over the role of President of Great Western Forum. Her father passed away in 2013, and the control for the Lakers was transferred to Buss and her five siblings by a trust of the family which gave each sibling the same vote.
